The Boss, the retired ex-postman, his son Balázs and his lover, the bored and beautiful Mari take over the post office situated in the middle of the housing estate and due to open in a week, and start running it for themselves. Only the drunk worker painting the post office is suspicious and the old tramp-couple who are unable to send their son in America help because Balázs always dissuades them. But things start to go wrong because Géza, an expostman who had been put in prison for fraud and who was now free, appears on the scene. He also comes in on it being the Boss’s old colleague and a man hungry for beautiful women like Mari. The family atmosphere is destroyed and things are made worse still by a postal strike as well by Bogdan, the policeman, who smells a rat. The old couple eventually post a parcel containing a bomb for the hated post office. However, before the special opening of the post office, our heroes make off with the money. The post office however is sent flying into the air. Miraculously, nobody is injured. For a short time, Bogdán and Mari’s husband operate the bank where the false post office’s money was sent. Out heroes leave happy as does else wanting to use their idea.
