”Love starts with I.” – wrote Miklós Mészöly. Mind you, it is 1956. We see the last 24 hours of a year-long relationship between a Bulgarian girl and a Hungarian boy. When all comes true. When all ends. In the days of retaliation, the girl is sent back home and is immediately executed because she stayed in Budapest during the revolution. Only the boy knew what she was like in bed. She didn’t love him. She was with him merely out of female curiosity, – because she was that kind of a girl. During the revolution the boy writes a diary about his idling and his enthusiasm; an activity leading to his arrest followed by years of imprisonment.
