The film is a Hungarian historical ”road movie” that tells the story of the Hungarians’ ancestors, the seven Hungarian Chieftains, who started off to conquer the land of the Hungarians in the last years of the 9th century. Before leaving their original home in Asia they have a farewell night… The next day they wake up with a pretty strong hangover from drinking too much koumiss the previous night… They realize that their fellow Hungarians have already left, so they must be on the road somewhere… We follow the historical journey of the Chiefs, searching for their people, the Hungarians, throughout the whole film. During their historical time travel in the Carpathian basin they meet Vikings, Slavs, Tartars, Turks and Germans, but can’t find the Hungarians anywhere… By the end of this hilariously funny trip through history Álmos, Előd, Ond, Kond, Tas, Huba and Töhötöm finally find their Hungarians, and they are all happy to settle down in their new homeland and feel at home, home sweet home…
