At the beginning of their relationship Ágnes and Tamás were dreaming about a big house with a green vine arbour, a big white car and kids – a boy and a girl. They managed to have two beautiful children but they could get only a cheap kind of a vehicle. And instead of the big house, now, at the age of forty they are borrowing money to buy a bigger flat. The building where the bigger flat is used to belong to Ágnes’ family but the communist regime took it away from them and nationalized it. After the democratic changes the new government tries to recompense the despondent citizens with compensation tickets that are worth money. But the still uncontrollable legal system gives way to corruption and frauds. Ágnes desperately fights for their right to gain back the family property. Tamás is more and more disillusioned. He doesn’t take part in Ágnes’ struggle because he is unable to accept the defective and dishonest values of the transitional period.
