The writer has lived with us, in a strange house, for two years now. He does not speak our language, yet he senses some odd and chilling force spreading in the dilapidated Budapest block that serves as his dwelling. The force uses objects he finds in the building to observe the puppet-like residents that have no will. The writer is scared. Slowly, one after another he tells his stories, which, penetrating through the tissue of time, portray the states of loneliness, the desire to leave and the aggression, all feeding on the fear that has accumulated in the house over long decades. Minutes drag by sluggishly in the four thin-walled flats of the house. Perhaps we are walking on the border- line of reality while the hypnotic merciless forces of the house come into play, forcing the living to unthinkingly stagger towards their fate. The writer is coming to the end of his story soon. Does the ”House” have something for him as well?
