Just like memories, this film is subjective. Along the lines of the fictitious diary written in archaic language by a 20-year-old gypsy girl Lili Csokonai (in fact by Péter Esterházy), the film gives the chronicle of her unreturned love. A naive person, Lili is defencelessly in love from the very moment of meeting him. Later she recalls a number of trivial things that now, in retrospect, receive meaning and importance. She often judges herself, her words and acts in the diary. The way she remembers a particular place or its atmosphere is characteristic of her: Lili's memory is expressive and visionary. The structure of the film is determined by diary writing, by scenes recalled from her memory. As the past unfolds, it explains how Lili ends up a killer. Her inner tensions come from the elemental desire for sexual union with the beloved man. She recalls that event as the first and only time she has ever seen herself as a remarkeable person. The sexuality in the film belongs to the female memory, having nothing to do with pornography.
