The Balogh family is about to fall apart, when suddenly the father who was thought to be dead comes home from the hospital. He is a crippled man full of life, a liar with vivid imagination, and a savior. His goal is to keep the family together but nobody else believes in him except his youngest son. His wife hangs out with different men. His daughters hope for a better life outside the village and long for guys and love. His older son is after strange dreams and the whole community thinks that he’s crazy. Only his little boy looks at his father as a hero who can protect him. And Balogh battles courageously, he just as struggles with his disabled body through the water gang with the same resolution he looks for a job, plays the harmonica, begs and lies through his life. But he can’t prevent the destruction of his family. He’s not only losing his children but his children are losing themselves. And one day even his little boy has to realize that his father is no hero. He’s more like a pathetic and weak figure. Because of this the boy becomes resigned to a fatal action that’s a little bit worse than death. Balogh would rather die.
