The story of the film is set in the summer of 2002 in Budapest, when a strange and disturbing event takes place to disturb its inhabitants. Snow begins to fall above the city. Dense big flakes of snow land upon the hot asphalt, balconies, and walkways covered with flowers. It seems that everybody’s lives are set to change on this day.
Lóránt, a 50 year-old man, no longer wishes to be a father and a husband. Eszter, a pretty artist, no longer wishes to carry on being just a lover, but instead wants a husband and children... Máté, who works for the Office of International Law, and is divorced with a child, is nervous about a new marriage. Ditta, who writes articles to help other women look for a partner, is helpless when her own marriage is beset by crisis...
And then there is Bogó, a blackman working as a bus driver, who despite having a formidable knowledge of the history and layout of Budapest, on this day manages to get himself, his No.7 bus and his passengers lost; Fanni, a girl looking for her place in the world with no idea of what she wants to be; the Tall Woman, who has difficulty finding the right man; and the draughtsman Ákos, who is a man of extremes, both in his thoughts and actions... And the Gipsy family who on this very day lose Baba, Zoltán Kolompár Csoki’s mother...
Through the fate of Eastern Europe on a miniature scale the film provides an insight into the emotions of the protagonists on this strange day. This day is one of life and death. How to go on? What will tomorrow bring?
A map of emotions takes shape in the film’s stories, which are sometimes lyrical, sometimes comical, and sometimes absurd enough to provoke a smile.
