In December 1944 a Hungarian farming family is preparing for the feast of peace and love but into the elevated spirits comes distress: the family fears their son Peter, the deserter boy, who is sought by the military police. Soviet troops arrive at the farm and rob the family. Two Soviet soldiers harass the daughters. Peter shoots one of the soldiers but the other escapes wounded and calls for the investigating-punishing group. In prison the father and Peter talk separately to officials about the murder of the Soviet soldier. In the end Peter – to save his father – confesses all. But his confession is not acceptable to the Soviet officer so the preparation of the ”suitable truth” proceeds. The indictment shall appear as follows: Soldiers of the Red Army were not harassing the unprotected girls. On the contrary. Two female soldiers entered the farm house asking for some bread and water. One of them was raped and killed by Peter with the help of his mother and father. Fortunately the other was able to escape. This is now the confession signed by both mother and father. The sentence: Peter, his mother and his father are all sentenced to death and are executed immediately. The three girls are each sentenced to ten years in prison. An overcrowded train takes them to Siberia. From the three, one makes it out alive. In 1993, the official word is that the execution of Peter and his parents was in fact justified and all three girls have been rehabilitated.
