Born in 1947 in Pécs, Hungary. Graduated from the Academy of Theatre and Film Art Budapest in 1975.Between 1979 and 1992 was artistic director at the Csiky Gergely Theatre in Kaposvár. Since 1993 has been directing at the Katona József and Radnóti Theatre in Budapest. Since the 1970's he has been directing for the Hungarian Television (more than 30 television films and other programs) and made several feature films.He made his first feature film, A Priceless Day in 1979. He got the most international acclaim for his film Time Stands Still (1981).
